Mayor presses for more trains from Bushey station

Liberal Democrat Mayor, Peter Taylor, is leading calls for more trains from Bushey station.

Following contact from a number of residents, the Mayor has been in touch with senior management at West Midlands Trains to press for an increased service from the station. So far the company have suggested that a lack of staff and finances means that they are currently not in a position to restore the train service to pre-pandemic levels.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said “A number of residents have raised with me the issues they are currently experiencing getting trains to and from Bushey during rush hour. I have been in contact with the management at West Midlands Trains about this. I completely understand the frustration this brings to many local people trying to conduct their daily life.

“As the government tell people to go back to working in the office, they need to ensure that the transport is available to get them there. Unfortunately local people are suffering once again because of the lack of preparation and organisation from the government around the ever-changing Covid-19 restrictions. I will continue to raise this until residents get a frequent and reliable service.”

Local campaigner, Kennedy Rodrigues added, “I know that more and more people are now traveling to their places of work once again. It is vital that they have good transport services so that they can do that. Many residents in Oxhey commute to London for work and this is made extremely difficult when there are long gaps between services, especially in the morning and evening.”
